  • How do educators create discourse?

Traditionally, this means that it is a way of communication between the teacher and the students in the classroom. But more often the teacher is more communicative and therefore does not allow for the most efficient learning. This approach has since been improved and now focuses more on student collaboration and communication to better prepare them for the real world.

  • Which social media platforms are beneficial in education?

WordPress–Teachers can set up a webpage about the course to encourage students to use it to access course information and to communicate and exchange ideas. Students can also use it to express their opinions.

YouTube–Video is also a way to do this, and YouTube has a dedicated academic area to make it available to teachers.

The Connected Educator–It allows educators to find other educators,  then get in touch and find people in same fields.

  • What are some problems with social media communications in educational settings?

In the field of education there is a requirement for professionalism and accuracy of knowledge, but there is no way for social media to perfectly filter incorrect knowledge and information. And most readers are not professionally equipped to judge the rightness or wrongness of such information. Therefore, if the information delivered by social media is wrong, it can be misleading.

  • When working with the vulnerable sector, how does social media fit into professionalism and regulations?

I think there needs to be some requirements and regulations set up. And locate a topic to allow only information related to the topic to be discussed and shared.
